David Bruce is an experienced market and social researcher, having worked in the Western Australian research industry since 1996. His background is in Psychology (he is a Registered Psychologist in WA), with a particular focus on the psychology of attitudinal and behaviour change, and the factors effecting individual and group or organisational performance.
He began in the research industry as Market Research Officer for BankWest, and he continued to do project work for the bank and for other clients during his Post-Graduate studies. In 1999 David joined the Perth-based consulting company The Boshe Group (TBG), working for a variety of private and public sector clients in both quantitative and qualitative research areas. In mid-2000 TBG merged with the national research company Colmar Brunton Research (CBR), where he worked as a senior researcher in the Perth office, including acting in the role of State Manager throughout 2003.
Throughout this time David has been a member of the Australian Market and Social Research Society (AMSRS, formerly known as the MRSA), including serving on the WA State Committee and also on a state conference committee. In 2004 David attained the new Qualified Practicing Market Researcher (QPMR) status with the society, a status which recognises experience and a strong skill base in the field, as well as a commitment to on-going professional development. He is experienced in all stages of research, and has both quantitative and qualitative skills.
David now operates as an independent consultant, while still working on long-standing projects with CBR.
While he has worked closely with numerous purely commercial clients, it is in the area of social research that David has a particular interest. In recent years he has been involved in a number of large-scale social studies, designing and conducting the community research which has been used as an input into the community consultation process. These studies have included both metropolitan and regional projects, and ranged in scale from consideration of the long-term future development strategy of cities and towns through to developing solutions for specific issues.
